Visiting a place you've never been can be an awkward experience. We don't want your first visit to Good Shepherd to be weird. Here's a few things you can expect when you attend a worship service.
Every church has its own style of worship. At Good Shepherd, we try to make worship as guest-friendly as possible.
In our worship services we'll pray together, sing together, hear God’s Word in the Bible read and explained, and confess what we believe as one family of Christians.
Our services are liturgical in style, meaning we follow the same outline each week, but the content changes based on the scripture and topics we're studying.
You'll hear a mix of musical styles and instruments ranging from traditional to modern. If you don't connect with one style of music, just wait! The next song or service will probably be different. We try to incorporate the old-favorite hymns as well as contemporary worship songs.
The service will be about an hour long, with a 15-20 minute sermon. The message is always rooted in the truth of the Bible, but it will also apply to your life, today.
Greeters will be there with an open door and a smile.
At the entry to our church, you'll find ushers who can help you find a seat.
Feel free to ask questions of our greeters and ushers — they are here to help you feel welcomed at home. Need to know where the bathrooms are? Ask them! Need information on our academy? Ask them!
Often, we'll have refreshments and coffee, and enjoy some conversation time together. If you're attending our early service, most Sundays, Bible class will begin around 9:10 AM.
We love welcoming families to worship together! We don't expect little ones to sit perfectly still or be silent throughout the worship services.
Feel free to use the entryway or our Good Shepherd Family room during the worship service when your little lamb needs some room. Family activity bags are also available.
No way! Time at church should be an enjoyable and uplifting experience. You won't be called out or recognized as a guest during worship, though we'd love to meet and get to know you better!
Our goal isn't to add you to our membership roll or our email list.
Our ultimate goal is to serve you well with the truth and hope we have in Jesus. Take your time as you get to know us.
That's okay! We don't expect you to and believe some of the best ways to learn more about the Bible is to participate in worship and Bible study within a welcoming community of others who want to learn more, too.
There is no dress code at Good Shepherd. You will see everything from jeans to suits; dresses and ties to soccer and baseball uniforms. Come as you are and however you are comfortable!
We’re a Lutheran church, part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
Can I talk to someone first?
We understand that visiting a new church can be hard. From new faces to unfamiliar traditions, the experience can be overwhelming.
We'd love to connect with you and learn more about you.
